This Bosch Stainless Steel Freestanding Dishwasher SMS40E08AU utilises VarioSpeed technology to clean your dishes in up to half the time. This helps saves water while it washes by determining the amount of dishes inside and the level of washing required before the cleaning cycle starts. This dishwasher also runs quiet, with an advanced motor and drain pump that work without brushes – limiting unpleasant noise during clean up. For added safety, you can manually lock this Bosch Dishwasher to prevent any accidental tampering during operation
After much research (internet, talking to salesman at a few stores (Billy Guyatts, The Good Guys,JB Hi-Fi, etc) I learnt a few things that surprised even me.
Important: You should not rely on Choice and Canstar or other rating, people’s reviews and star ratings alone!
The simple fact is that while these give you a view, you need to consider all the information. Take for example Choice recommending BOSCH above. A HOT BUY at $691, down around $200. On closer inspection what do you need to look at. The quality of all the parts that wash in the dishwasher. In this machines they are plastic, filters too=will not last. Not all size dishes fit, made in Turkey. However, if you just want a cheap efficient model that you are happy to replace (and don’t expect it to last then buy this). The more expensive models made in Germany are better quality. Does this mean that everything is made in Germany? Probably not. The reality is that sellers want to maximize profit so that you should expect parts purchased in other countries to make up your machine.
Feeling confused? Keeping it simple..how to buy your dishwasher:
Make a well informed decision by reading reviews, ratings, talk to sales man, look at where the major parts are made and the quality, how long you want the dishwasher to last, what dish sizes you want to fit.
Be aware that salesman may be required by their employer to sell different products as a result they have made with suppliers to maximize profit.
The most expensive may not be the best value. Look at the whole picture.
While reviews are useful, look at the dates of reviews from buyers and understand that not every buyer has or will do a review or is a qualified reviewer. Hence, you are missing out a lot of information.
Do I pay for the Warranty?
Look at what it covers, duration, is it fully replacement warranty. Years ago I bought an LG washing machine with a fully replacement warranty. This is my 4th machine so I am glad I did. However, if the warranty doesn’t cover much, no point.
